Frage wg. Onboard Sound

Hat jemand den "Realtek ALC850" auf einem MSI K8N NEO2 Platinum (http://www1.alternate.de/html/shop/productDetails.html?showTechData=true&artno=GHEM03&#tecData) unter Linux zur Audioausgabe bewegen können? (ich spiele mit dem gedanken mir dieses Board zu kaufen)
Speziell die Soundausgabe via optischen SPDIF würde mich interessieren...
Leider finde ich den Chip nicht in den Alsa Kompatibilitätslisten (http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/).
Ist der Chip evtl. nur ein PHY zum Audioteil des nForce3 Chipsatzes?
d.h. kann ich ihn mit den Nvidia/Alsa Modul (http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/index.php?vendor=vendor-Nvidia#matrix) zum klingen bringen?

also afaik (!) hat der nforce3 kein soundstorm, d.h. es kommt keine nvidia-spu zum einsatz

demnach sind nvidia-module (bzw das intel8x0) weniger hilfreich

- mehr kann ich leider nicht sagen, bin nforce2-geplagter

das er kein soundstorm (ac3 realtime encoding) hat mir bekannt,
die neueren nForce2 Chips haben das ja auch nicht mehr (zugunsten von nativen SATA und GBit-LAN)

allerdings scheint der nForce3 auch einen Audiocontroller zu besitzen

die Frage ist ob der RealTek 850 das PHY zu diesem Funktionalitäten darstellt oder ein eigener, diskreter Chip ist, der explizit von Alsa unterstützt werden muß.....

Der intel8x0 ist schon der richtige.
Wie es sich mit den digitalen Schnittstellen verhält weiß ich leider nicht, habe nur ne analoge Beschallungsanlage ;)

hast du das obengenannte Board? Falls ja hast du folgende Option im alsa-mixer?

Nein, ich hatte mal ein ähnliches Board, ebenfalls nf3 & rtl850. Der Regler sagt mir nichts, TOS-Link klingt aber verdammt nach Digitalem Ausgang ;)

mich würden halt praktische Erfahrungen mit dem speziellen Board interessieren, da ich u.a. davon meine Kaufentscheidung abhängig machen werde....

Installation:
This Source Code is from www.alsa-project.org.
For driver installation, please follow below steps.

Step 1. unzip source code
tar xfvj azx-021705.tar.bz2

Step 2. Turn on sound support (soundcore module, default turn on)

Step 3. Complied source code
a. ./configure
b. make
c. make install
d. ./snddevices

Step 4. Edit your /etc/modules.conf or conf.modules depending on the distribution
(Please refer to the attached modules.conf)

Step 5. reboot your machine

Note: 1. The most detail information, can refer the alsa-kernel/Documenttation/ALSA-Configuration.txt in the azx-021705.tar.bz2.
2. Kernel Version must be 2.2.14 or later.
3. All mixer channels are muted by default. You must use a native
or OSS mixer program to unmute appropriate channels.
4. If can not compile the source code, try to rename the /usr/src/linux-2.x -> /usr/src/linux.
5. The driver added to support the SPDIF functoin.
6. Suggest use alsamixer to control mixer function. you can find it in the alsa-utils-0.9.4 (www.alsa-project.org).
7. a. You can download the alsa-lib-1.0.8 and alsa-utils-1.0.8 form the www.alsa-project.org, then unzip and install them.
b. Used "alsaconf" can autodetect which drive you need to install (step 4).

Jetzt bin ich verwirt....
warum taucht der ALC/Realtek dann nirgenwo in der Liste (http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/) auf?

ne weitere Frage die mir grad eingefallen ist....
wie schauts aus wenn ich den Treiber auf nen 64bit Sys nutzen will?
kann ich den Source ohne weiteres sowohl in ner 32bit als auch in ner 64bit Variante zu nem Modul kompilieren, oder brauch es da ggf. Patches/Anpassungen?
