Sunbird 0.2 stabil?

Hallo Leute!
Ich spiele gerade mit dem Gedanken Mozilla Sunbird zu installieren. Im Portage Tree ist das Paket und sämtliche Abhängigkeiten (Mozilla Launcher 1.44 und 1.45, ka warum der das zweimal drin hat...) sowohl keyword masked als auch hard masked... Das hört sich schon verdammt gefährlich an. Ich möchte mir auch nicht den Firefox durch installation einen neuen Launchers zerschießen...
Also was sagt ihr? Wer hat Sunbird ausprobiert? Was sind eure Eindrücke? Ist es den Stress wert?

ich habs mir gerade dort gezogen: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/calendar/sunbird/nightly/latest-trunk/

bisher ist es mal noch nicht abgestürzt :D.
ich würde mir bei solchen programmen allerdings die compiliererei sparen (gibt es eigentlich eine bin davon ? - bin grad zu faul zum nachschauen) , einfach das file von ftp.mozilla.org ziehen, entpacken und ausführen :).
der nachteil dieser methode ist halt, dass sunbird dann nicht per portgage up to date bleibt.

Das hört sich ja richtig gut an! Was sagst du denn zur Benutzbakeit?
Hmm, ein '# emerge -s mozilla-sunbird' liefert mir tatsächlich *nur* ein bin Paket. Ungewöhnlich. Aber mir solls recht sein.
Ich werde dann wohl auch mal eine Installation (via Portage, ich denke da die Mozilla Crew wird Sunbird oft updaten, dann ist Portage ja gut behilflich) wagen. Wünscht mir Glück! :)

Jup, läuft alles stabil. Mir gefällt die schlichte Oberfläche... :)
Sunbird wird bestimmt das nächste Große Mozilla Produkt...

Also 0.2 läuft hier sehr gut. 0.2.20050724 dagegen nicht.

Insbesondere da die Sunbird Version in Portage ja binary ist.

hängt warscheinlich stark von der restlichen kombination ab, bei mir daheim läufts einwandfrei, in der firma startet es nicht mal

wie ist dir portage da jetzt genau behilflich wenn ein neuer nightly rauskommt?Portage kann einem da nicht behilflich sein, da im Portage nur Releases einer Version auftauchen, die von einem Maintainer als gut genug befunden wurden. Nightlies sind reine Testversionen, die kein halbwegs vernünftiger Mensch in ein Paketsystem aufnehmen sollte.

Wirklich viel tut sich aber auch nicht bei dem Sunbird Projekt. Der bisher einzige Release ist schon ein halbes Jahr alt und seitdem gibt es nur nightlies, von denen aber alle mehr oder weniger große Probleme hatten, als ich sie ausprobiert habe.

Hello all,

As some of you may already know, Sunbird/Calendar development on the
trunk has gone through a major refactoring in order to provide a much
better codebase for proper server support and implementation of various
calendar data sources. As the number of major blockers decrease, you may
slowly be seeing new nightly builds here and there as well as the start
of more frequent official nightly releases. This is to inform you that
as much as we need testers and feedback on the new Sunbird/Calendar, we
need you to understand that there will be all sorts of regressions,
incompatibility, new bugs and possibly confusion ahead for those who
upgrade to the nightlies. This shouldn't have been necessary to point
out for a product still at its 0.2+ version but the amount of daily
usage reports and the amount of calendar data seen to be trusted with
Sunbird/Calendar obliges us to do so. So again, before the wave of
excitement from a new release leaves you less time to decide, make sure
installing and using the new nightlies is what you want and furthermore
what you are ready for. It definitely is what we want; yet for those who
are content with the current functionality there will be the final 0.2
release to use.
In terms of incompatibility the new nightlies will not automatically
read and recognize your previous data so it will be up to you to import
or re-enter them from scratch. Providing a migrator was not possible
since it couldn't have been justified for a 0.2+ version application.
To speak about the good side of things, there will be a pretty solid
CalDav support thanks to Mike Shaver and his team, a much better
iCalendar standard support based on the new interfaces, thanks to
Michiel van Leeuwen (mvl), more UI enhancements and hopefully extension
and theme support, thanks to Matthew Willis and altogether a great
codebase to build upon, thanks to all of our contributors.

Das Dumme ist, irgendwie kann ich entfernte Kalender, die über http kommen nicht mehr einbinden. Es weis nicht zufälligerweise jemand von euch, wie es geht?
