Moving forward, the driver team is dividing its attention between two principal foci, says ATI’s Bar-Haim. Performance is the first, with a roadmap that includes an improved AA technique, better anisotropic filtering, CrossFire support for the R500-series, specific dual-core processing optimizations, and dynamic clock control. On the innovation side, Bar-Haim’s team is working on COPP (Certified Output Protection Protocol; a content protection scheme for high-definition video), H.264 support, new user controls in the driver interface, and a task-oriented wizard to simplify setup.
