ok..
hab das problem gelöst indem ich die zeile, die in statusoverride gestanden ist, rausgelöscht hab (da war was mit "Debian-exim")

jetzt hab ich proftpd installiert..sogar schon einmal als inetd und einmal als standalone, ich kann aber irgendwie keine richtige verbdinungen von meinem ftp-client aufbauen..woran kann das noch liegen?

ich hab user angelegt, DefaultRoots festgelegt und ...ja
und die user, mit denen ich einloggen will, stehen nicht in der /etc/ftpusers drin

Soweit ich weiß, wenn nichts anderes angegeben wird, musst du dich mit einem Systemaccount einloggen, sprich wenn du dich mit dem User "ftp" einloggst, musst du auch einen Ordner /home/ftp haben.
