Catalyst Install enhancement - No reboot required after Catalyst upgrade install

This release of Catalyst™ introduces an enhancement to the Catalyst installer. Users are no longer required to reboot their system after Catalyst has finished installing (as long as the installation is an upgrade from a previous Catalyst install).
Performance Improvements

The following performance gains are noticed with this release of Catalyst™.

* 3DMark Vantage:10 to 15% gains across all Radeon™ HD 3xxx and HD 2xxx products, with larger gains in specific cases.
* Call of Duty 4: Performance increases across all Radeon™ HD 3xxx and HD 2xxx products, with gains as large as 35% in specific maps.
* Call of Juarez DX10: Performance increases between 2 and 9% across all HD 3xxx and HD 2xxx products

Soo hab den neuen Catalyst installiert und bei Cod4 mal alle Maps durchgetestet. Wurd wirklich nicht zu wenig versprochen, denn in den Situationen wo meine fps bisher unerklärliche Weise "eingebrochen" sind, läuft jetzt durchweg mit 20% mehr fps (min fps).
Also ich bin vollends zufrieden :)

Dennoch installier ich noch jeden neuen Catalysten...Beim 8.5 funktioniert die schnelle Benutzerumschaltung nach langer Dursstrecke ;) ohne, daß das Signal erstmal vollständig gekqppt wird. klack-klack-klack-klack zusätzlich bei CRTs und (Frequenzumschaotung) und bei CRTs wie TFTs hat das so oder so die Umschaltung um etliche Seunden verzögert. Ist mit 8.5 weg. Nachweislich.

Solche und ähnliche Sachen stehen nie in den RNotes :P Ich glaub den 8.6 gönn ich der 1950 noch. Dann ist aber Schluß ;)

Das wenige was man mit dem CP noch einstellen kann, kannst du auch mit den ATT einstellen.
Das benutzt du ja auch. Für was also noch das CP welches schon älter wie die Steinkohle ist und nicht einmal alle Möglichkeiten zum einstellen liefert.
Die Installation kannst du dir sparen.

die powerplay funktion im gemoddeten treiber ist zwar vorhanden und aktivierbar, aber ich kann nichts auswählen, was er machen soll wen ich am strom bin oder auf akku...
dafür hab ich neue einstellungen wie automatische helligkeitsanpassung... was ist das???

Das ist Quatsch. Grade bei Vista würde ich immer ein Update machen. Damit hatte ich nie Probleme bisher und es funktioniert einwandfrei. Zudem kann es nämlich passieren, dass dir die ATI-Treiberkomplettdeinstallation dein Vista deaktiviert, das ist mir schon 2x passiert.

Ich finde es trotzdem schwach das AMD/ATI die Seite nicht insoweit geupdatet hat, das man über das Listbox-Menü auch eine 48x0-Auswählen kann und dann zum 8.6 Hotfix-Treiber kommt.

Für einen unbedarften Anwender sieht (und sah) das ganze zumindest etwas komisch aus.....
Ich hatte in der letzten 2 Woche bestimmt 10 eMails und 5 Anrufe wo man denn einen (vermeindlich neueren als den mitgelieferten) Treiber für die 48x0 findet und warum ATI/AMD die neuen Karten überhaupt nicht listet auf der Treiberseite.

Niemand hat gesagt dass der Asus Treiber finale Catalyst 8.7 ist. Der ist halt nur für Asus EAH4870 optimiert und hat WHQL siegel und erkennt wenigstens die Grafikkarte im System als Ati4870. Siehe GPU-Z Shot...

Du kannst versuchen, mit einem Programm wie DriverCleaner oder wie das heißt sämtliche Reste von nVidia zu entfernen und dann den ATi Treiber neu zu installieren.

Da sitzt das Problem dann aber vor dem Rechner...ich hatte bei GoW weder mit meiner alten 8800GTX noch habe ich im Zweitrechner wo ne 9800GTX drinne mit GoW probleme.

Bringt ATI den Treiber noch heute oder gibt es wieder "unerklärliche Probleme"?
Ich mein, ich brauche keinen neuen Cat, da bisher alles läuft, aber wenn ATI probs mit der 48x0-Serie in dem Treiber hat, dann solen Sie sich bitte ehrlich hinstellen und sagen: OK, hier ist der neue 8.7, aber kein 48x0-Support.
Hätte ich keine Probs mit, aber diese dauernde verschieben ist nicht so gut (auch in Gedenken an die, die keine 48x0 haben).

So, der Treiber meldet sich beim installieren mit 8.512* und wird dann als Version 8.51.3 angezeigt. Nun wäre das Changelog noch interessant, ob der neue X-Server von F9 unterstützt wird und ich das downgrad des selbigen wieder rückgangig machen kann.

Stromsparen ist mit dem noch nicht. Kiste verbraucht genauso wie mit dem 8.6er.
