* Serious Sam: The First Encounter beta1 now available. (posted 2002-12-05 16:49:06 by icculus):

(For all those that waited more than a year...)

The beta for Serious Sam: The First Encounter is now in effect!

Things to note:
o No, it's not network compatible with win32. Yes, I know this sucks. Linux players can play amongst themselves, though.
o You need the retail First Encounter disc to install the game. The package you'll be downloading has an installer.
o No, you can NOT play The Second Encounter at this time, but hopefully you will be able to in the future. I also know that this sucks.

Go download.

UPDATE: There was a bad problem with the installer. It's fixed. Now there's only minor problems with the installer. :) If you downloaded it before, download the new "beta1a" version that's up now and run the /where/i/installed/ssamtfe/uninstall script before installing the new version.

installation hat geklappt aber leider stürzt das game dauernd ab.
die demo's laufen durch,ebenso kann ich den technologietest betreten.
sobald ich aber ein singleplayergame starte,stüzt es nach dem flyby-intro ab.

wie läuft diese betaversion bei euch?

bei mir steigt das gamme leider immer an der selben stelle aus.

mit dem neuen installer kann ich das game nun überhaupt nicht mehr starten.
bei der installation werden zwei dateien nicht auf der cd gefunden,ein start von ssamtfe wird sofort mit der fehlermeldung abgebrochen,das nur die us-version unterstützt wird.
ich habe leider nur die eu-version.
