Hallo zusammen,
eben habe ich folgendes sowohl im Internet, als auch in der zitierten Zeitschrift CT lesen müssen:
VIA 686B BIOS fixes do NOT fix data corruption! Posted by viper

One of our visitors has posted the following:
the German magazine c't tried the 686B fixes and found that some boards *still* do not work correctly, even with the bugfix! They wrote that on some boards they had to run the test for *several hours* before data corruption occurred, so it is extremely diffictult to test whether your board works 100% reliably or not.
They conclude that the *only* reliable workaround they found was NOT USING the second IDE channel AT ALL. I think you should pass this advice on. Users with 686B south bridges who want to use more than two IDE devices should best use a PCI IDE controller for their additional devices...
Also aufpassen, das Problem KANN immer noch bestehen...
