Erstens: Wie logge ich mich als root ein? Ich kann mich zwar als normaler Benutzer einloggen, als root aber nicht da root nicht im Loggin-Fenster erscheint.

Zwotens: Wie kann ich die Netzwerk-Fähigkeit des Nforce2-Chipsatzes nutzen? Das Teil wird zwar richtig erkannt aber wenn ich den Assistenten für den Netzwerk- und Internetzugang nutze schliesst dieser die Einrichtung nicht ab sondern fängt alles wieder von vorne an.

Gib doch einfach root als benutzername ein.

Geht ja nicht. Ich kann die Bentzer nur mit der Maus auswählen und root ist bei der Auswahl nicht dabei. Das ist ja das Problem. :)

Kannst du nicht im Kontrollzentrum von Mandrake (nicht KDE) einfach einen root Account dazu machen?

Habe ich auch schon versucht. Sobals ich root eingebe, kann ich leider die Einrichtung nicht mehr abschliessen und bekomme die Meldung, daß dieser Nutzer schon existiert.

Starte mal die Config für den Anmeldemanager aus dem KDE-Menü. Dort fügst du root als sichbaren user hinzu.

Jetzt müsste ich noch die Netzwerkkarte zum Laufen bekommen. Gibt es noch eine andere Möglichkeit, die Netzwerk-Funktionen zu konfigutieren?

Der Treiber war schon dabei. Und wie gesagt, die NF2-Netzwerkkomponente wird erkannt, der Assistent für die Netzwerk-Einrichtung steigt aber aus.

Ich musste bei der Installation im Edit-Feld für die Administrator-Kennung eine Kennzeichnung eintragen, z.B. eben "root".

Hi,

ich hatte das gleiche Problem.
Um es zu lösen bin ich folgendermaßen vorgegangen:

1. Bei nvidia habe ich mir die nforce2-Treiber für Linux als *.tar.gz runtergeladen und dann entpackt

2. mit make / make install habe ich dann "versucht" das ganze zu installieren

3. bei dem Modul nvnet.o meckert das System, dass dieser nicht der GPL entspricht

4. jetzt habe ich das System erstmal neugestartet

5. mit linuxconf (aus der Konsole gestartet) habe ich meinen Netzwerkadapter konfiguriert und als Kernelmodul einfach nvnet angegeben

6. Nach einem weiteren Neustart läuft es jetzt

Etwas merkwürdig alles (insbesondere das Problem mit GPL), aber irgenwie so sollte es klappen. Vielleicht kann man auch Schritt 1 bis 4 auslassen da (wie ich später erfahren habe) schon ein Modul bei Mandrake dabei sein soll

Jo, so habe ich es auch gemacht. :)

Ich hab die TAR-Balls kompiliert und dann wurde der Treiber richtig ins System eingebunden und jetzt habe ich Netzwerk.

hi,

habe ein problem das tarfile zu installieren. nach dem entpacken gebe ich make ein doch irgendwie klappt es nicht. es werden lauter fehlermeldungen rausgegeben. weiss einer rat?

Du musst die Kernel-Sourcen nachinstallieren. Der Treiber wird gegen den Kernel kompiliert und ohne die Sourcen kann make damit nichts anfangen.
