Was hat Hercules 9500Pro für Speicher???
und womit kann ich das Bios freischalten so das ich übertakten kann???

weil das BIOS, welches auf DEINER Karte ist, unlockt und geschrieben wird

Nein: Sie möchten mittels RadEdit übertakten? Dafür muss man nichts patchen.

Nein: Sie haben den Treiber mit RivaTuner gepatcht oder benutzen den
Omega-Treiber mit aktivierten Patches. Einzelheiten bitte hier

Ja: Sie haben eine Übertaktungs-Software wie RivaTuner, PowerStrip,
Radeonator, Radclock, u.a. ausprobiert und ein übertakten war
damit nicht möglich. Der Warp11 Patch könnte helfen.

Ja: Sie wollen Änderungen am BIOS mit RadEdit vornehmen, aber
RadEdit 1.1.02 beta weigert sich das BIOS Image zu
laden ("No valid ATI BIOS"). Der BR Patch könnte helfen.

Ja: Sie haben im BIOS Image per Hexeditor Änderungen
vorgenommen. Diese Tool kann die dann nötige Korrektur der
Checksumme vornehmen.

Nein: Sie möchten Modifikationen (deaktivierte Pipelines aktivieren)
an ihrer Radeon 9500 vornehmen um sie damit in eine Radeon 9700
oder 9500pro zu verwandeln. Dafür ist diese Tool nicht zu
gebrauchen. (Rivatuner könnte helfen)

Sie können diese Software auf verschiedene Weise benutzen:
- Bootfloppy mit automatischem Auslesen, Patchen, Flashen, Wiederherstellen.
- autoflsh.bat in MS DOS mode starten (gleiche Funktion wie Bootfloppy)
- ModBIOS.bat oder ModBIOSi.bat in Windows oder DOS starten um ein
vorhandenes BIOS Image zu patchen.
- ModRadeonBIOS.exe in Windows starten (macht das gleiche wie ModBIOS.bat)
- warpbios.exe aus der Kommandozeile starten (für Experten und Unix User).

Hinweis: Ich empfehle dringend, nicht atiflash sondern flashrom-1.3 zu
benutzen. Atiflash löscht auf manchen Karten den Flash-Speicher und
bleibt danach mit einem Timeout hängen. Die Radoen ist danach erstmal
"tot."

Flashrom-1.3 befindet sich in etc\flash subdirectory:
flashrom -s 0 ORGBIOS.BIN
flashrom -f -p 0 NEWBIOS.BIN

Wie erstelle und benutze ich die Bootfloppy?
============================================

Sie können eine Bootfloppy erstellen, welche automatisch alle
notwendigen Schritte durchführt:

* Auslesen und sichern des original BIOS der Radeon nach
A:\ModBIOS\etc\flash\ORGBIOS.BIN

* Patchen des BIOS. Das gepatchte BIOS wird gespeichert nach
A:\ModBIOS\etc\flash\NEWBIOS.BIN

* Das gepatchte BIOS in die Radeon flashen (interaktiv)

* Wenn Sie von der Floppy ein zweitesmal booten und sie keinerlei
User-Eingaben machen, dann wird das originale BIOS wieder zurück in
die Radeon geflasht, wodurch der Ursprungszustand wiederhergestellt
wird. Das kann 1..2 Minuten dauern, weil erst einige Timeouts der
User-Abfragen verstreichen müssen.

Eine selbstinstallierendes Floppy-Image gibts hier:

Das Selbererstellen der Bootfloppy ist aber ebenfalls sehr einfach:

Zuerst erstellen sie eine normale MS DOS Bootfloppy: Unter Windows XP
wählen sie "Floppy formatieren" im Kontextmenü ihres
Floppy-Datenträgers. Im sich öffnenden Dialog-Fenster aktivieren sie
die Box "Startdiskette erstellen." Unter Windows 98: Start |
Systemsteuerung | Software | Startdiskette | Diskette Erstellen.
Sie können auch Bootfloppy-Images unter http://www.bootdisk.com downloaden.

Nun wechseln Sie im Explorer bitte in den Ordner ModBIOS\etc\floppy
und starten dort FlopCopy.bat. Dies kopiert alles notwendingen
Dateien auf die Floppy im Laufwerk A: (sollte die Floppy sich in
einem anderen Laufwerk befinden, bearbeiten Sie bitte vorher
FlopCopy.bat und tragen dort den richtigen Laufwerksbuchstaben ein)


WARNUNG: Benutzen Sie diese Bootdiskette nur mit der Radeon mit
welcher Sie die Floppy zum erstenmal benutzt haben. Das original BIOS
wird bei der erstmaligen Benutzung einmalig ausgelesen und auf der
Floppy gespeichert. Sollten Sie die Floppy nun mit einer anderen
Radeon benutzen, würde diese Karte mit dem für sie falschen BIOS
geflasht werden.

Wenn das Mainboard ihres PC im CMOS-Setup die Option "Halt on Error"
hat, so sollten sie diese deaktivieren ("disabled"). Das ermöglicht
bei manchen Mainboards das booten ohne Grafik-Karte. Das kann die
Dinge vereinfachen, falls beim flashen irgendwas schief gehen sollte
und die Radeon nach dem Booten "tot" ist. In dem Fall sollte erneutes
Booten von der Bootfloppy das originale BIOS wiederherstellen. Sollte
ein Booten wegen "Halt on Error" nicht möglich sein, muss eine PCI
VGA Karte installiert werden. Falls nur eine zweite AGP Karte zur
Verfügung steht, können Sie diese nutzen um im CMOS Setup
nachträglich die "Halt on Error" Option zu deaktivieren.

Wie benutze ich den Patcher ohne Bootfloppy?
============================================

Kopieren Sie zuerst das originale BIOS Image in diesen Ordner und
umbenennen es BIOS.BIN

Nun starten Sie ModBIOS.bat durch Doppelklick. Das gepatchte BIOS
wird nun in der Datei NEWBIOS.BIN gespeichert.

ModBIOS.bat läuft ohne User-Interaktion. Wenn Sie mehr Kontrolle über
die angewandten Patches brauchen, benutzen Sie bitte stattdesse
ModBIOSi.bat, welches interaktiv arbeitet. Unter Windows können Sie
alternativ auch ModRadeonBIOS.exe benutzen.

Die Datei autoflsh.bat macht übrigens das gleiche wie die
Bootfloppy. Es läuft aber auch auf Festplatten. Auch hier müssen Sie
darauf achten, dass Sie nicht für mehrere Radeons die gleiche
Ordner-Hierarchie benutzen.

How to unlock a Radeon 9500/9700 BIOS to allow overclocking by software:

1. Boot into MS-DOS. Change into this directory. Run ImgRead.bat
(that will read BIOS from Radeon and write it to file BIOS.BIN)
If you have a BIOS image, just copy it to BIOS.BIN into this directory
2. Run ModBIOS.bat from within DOS or Windows.
(that will patch BIOS.BIN and write a new file NEWBIOS.BIN)
3. Boot into MS-DOS. Change into this directory. Run ImgFlash.bat
(that will write file NEWBIOS.BIN into Radeon)

If you receive an error message from the flashtool, please read it
carefully. If the EEPROM was erased but writing the new image has
not succeeded, you will need a different flashtool. Don't reebot at
this point, because it would make things more difficult. Its a good
idea to get yourself all available flashtools before trying flashing
after all. So if it fails you can just try another before
reboot. Especially atiflash-1.3 is known to have problems with some
cards. I recommend using flashrom-1.3 (you can found it in
.\etc\flash\ directory.

Of course, you can still flash the Radeon even its dead after
rebooting. Many computers can boot without any graphic board into
MS-DOS (CMOS-Setup: Halt-on-Error=disabled is required on some
mainboards). You could also put in a PCI/ISA graphic board, so you
can flash a dead Radeon even in a mainboard that does not boot without
a working graphic board.

Please note: I just wrote the software but didn't came up with the
patches myself.

$CFFF Checksum:

To calculate the checksum, all bytes except the last one are
subtracted from a unsigned byte variable initialized to zero. The
result ist written into the last byte of the image ($CFFF). Its
purpose is to check the BIOS for corruption. If the checksum is
wrong, the screen of your computer might stay black at startup. The
checksum has to be calculated newly for any change applied to a BIOS
image. Please note: If one patch subtract 1 from a byte (like Warp11
patch) and the other adds 1 to another byte (like $CFF patch), the
checksum will stay the same (-1 + 1 = 0).

Warp11 Patch:

It seems that you cannot overclock by software unless you apply this
patch. Warp11 has done a comparison of some BIOS images, and found
out, that you can allow software overclocking by just changing byte
$74 from value $91 to $90. This changes the PCI device ID to that
from the 9700pro who is not locked. There is also a RivaTuner patch
script who changes a file from the driver package to change the
device ID. If you have a BIOS which can't be fooled by a 9700pro
device ID, neither Warp11- nor RivaTuner-patch should help.


BR patch:

Radeon-1.1.02 Beta has a problem recognizing some BIOSes as a valid
ATI BIOS. KMF found a text string which starts with "BR" while
RadEdit seems to expect " ". After changing "BR" to " " or " R",
RadEdit can open it. A new version of RadEdit may no longer need that
patch.

$CFF Patch:

There was a problem with Sapphire 9500pro Hynix card after applying
the Warp11 patch. The card was dead after patching. KMF found out,
you can avoid this, when incrementing the value at $CFF by 1. He
says, that $CFF might be some checksum. This patch is problematic to
apply automatically, because I'm not sure how to recognize if a BIOS
really needs it. Currently it is only done to Sapphire 9500pro Hynix
where $CFF has a value of $6E.
