I think it's a little too optimistic to expect native speakers here already, only hours after this board opened. Unless they speak german too and are already posting here.

But let's see what impact the CineFX article has. =)

Only time will tell, tho it might actually help to translate the Halo Preview and one of the Threads about it. But I guess that would attract too much ppl from the Gearbox forum and would result in posts we don't want here. Any suggestions what else could be done to catch some attention?

The problem in my opinion is that we've already had the main impact of the article at a time where this board didn't exist and the comment-thread was spammed into in German.
And there is a lack of a direct link to this forum / comment-thread at the end of the article ("Discuss this article here!", click)

But this article will not remain the only good (and translated) article here, I'm confident that it'll work out mid-/longterm-wise.

Mhh a really nice forum guys!!

I have an english LK now.
So maybe this invention will help me a little bit.

We will see!

Ps: For me its unusual to write in english on a pc.
Its harder i think.
Is this only my problem? Or do you feel like me?

its not harder, you are only not used to do it ;) If time comes, it will become easyer, trust me. The first time for me was very hard to, but that is long ago ^^

"easier" is the word you mean i think.

Ich think no other language is so much spreaded and known as english.

But polish would be still another good alternative :D

I think it should be called English A-course.

(eh, what's the English term for "mfg"?)

with best regards (wbr) ???

I don´t know, but yours sincerely or yours faithfully is another way to finish a post. But i think those terms are more usual for letters and so on.

Try using "cheers" :)
More correct forms (ie more direct translations) would be "regards" or "best regards", but that may be too formal.

Why did it have to be changed anyway? IIRC it changed while Leonidas updated the forum software to release 2.3.0.

The search function is still out of order - someone still knows the forum-language thread?

Btw. hey, we`ve got one native speaker - err... or something like that, i assume ^-^.
Came to Germany a long time ago, but it`s still amusing to see "Denglisch" in written form ;)

You all know the famous terms of that language, do you ?
Stuff like "I believe you have she not more all" or "I think you are on the woodway" - who didnt laugh about those ? :D

The funny thing about that is that some "curious" terms actually apply to english for real, i.e. "I`m not in the picture" (who would`ve thought that, but it`s rather...umm...colloquial)....

So, i think this is a very good idea and a nice feature to have, although i certainly do agree with that flag-discussion about it being semi-usa and semi-british, but....nevermind :)

well, that's absolutely right. without idioms the neglish language is quite boring although it's quite difficult for the partial english speaking people to get along with those. but the same goes for german while being much more difficult to learn in the first place. :)

but another annoying thing that confuses me sometimes are those false friends like "sensibel" which means sensitive and not sensible in english.

Definitely :D

I still remember learning the use of "der, die, das" instead of one single article :) And then there also is some similarities like "kindergarden" or "kaput"... ah, spelling is slightly different, but well.... The sensitive - sensible thing is one of the more complicated ones, right.

Germans also tend to say "I`m fed up" when they actually mean "Ich habe genug" or "Ich bin satt" - just had a funny experience in England with a friend of mine who said so after dinner - imagine the faces of our hosts..... :D

As for me, no problem at all. I've been reading (and posting to) English newsgroups (and also forums) since many years already, so I'm completely accostumed to it.

So, there's one of us, at least... ;) That's more than I can claim on my part. I grew up in Switzerland, but surrounded by Australians (add funny accent here), Scottsmen (add incomprehensible accent here), as well as a few people keen on RP. Hence my rather, err, unique accent and language pragmatics. In London pubs, people think I'm from Manchester, in Mancunian pubs people think I'm from Oxford, and don't even ask where Australians or, Gods forbid, Americans put me on the Global English scale . . . not pretty.

I am still not too sure whether I should feel flattered or dismayed at that Canadian bloke thinking I'm from Phoenix, either.

In short: please, everybody, don't mind my phrasing. Or orthography, for that matter. ;D

hmm.

what about a poll? ;D

registered users could poll about some questions.

1. wherefrom question (some slected countries should be sentenced)

2. where found out about 3d-center (link, tip from friend, randomly found by surfin´the net, pointed searching for articles by e.g. google, ..)

should be quite usefull for 3d-center and interesting for everyone.

Their opinions or questions are always discussed or answered with respect.
