With the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB, we highly recommend the Inspiron 8600 for gamers or performance users on a budget. Of all the mainstream performance notebooks we have looked at, the Dell Inspiron 8600 is arguably the best buy. The notebook won’t fare in the same class as Pentium 4 800FSB and Athlon 64 DTR based notebooks, but the use of Centrino technology will provide adequate battery life in conjunction with performance. In comparison to an 8600 with NVIDIA’s GeForce FX Go5650, the battery life is the same (4 hours) when we plugged in the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro module. We have been told that current owners of Inspiron 8600 should be able to scale up to the Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro with Dell’s spare parts ordering service.

As far as naming goes, we have sorted out what constitutes a Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro. Any M10 chip that operates at a core speed of at least 333MHz and has at least 64MB of video memory will be considered Pro. This has been due to the cancellation of GDDR2-M from Elphida roadmap. There will be no plans to use GDDR2-M with any ATI product, as there is no source to supply this technology.

Hoffentlich gibts das mit M10 bald in Deutschland - ich kann es nicht mehr erwarten das ding in den Händen zu halten.

Das interessiert mich auch?!?! Ansonsten bleibt mir nur das Yakumo Notebook Q8M Power64 XD. Sollte möglichst zügig ankommen die M10 bei Dell-Europe, eine Woche gebe ich denen noch.

Für mich leider nicht interessant. Mal schaun wie teuer das Ding ist.

Und sie haben in der Standardkonfiguration den GeForce 4 Ti4200 Go durch einen GeForce FX 5200 Go ersetzt...in meinen Augen eine klare Verschlechterung.

So, habe nun eben gerade mein erstes Notebook geordert.

Das 8600er mit 1,7GHz, 1680x1080, 60Gb, 512MB, Radeon 9600 Pro, Kombo-Laufwerk, Tasche, Dell WLan-Karte, Tasche. Dazu den Drucker, weil der auf ebay am meisten bringt.

Der Preis ist schon ziemlich happig, aber ich hoffe, dass ich die ersten Wochen das Grinsen nicht mehr aus dem Gesicht bekommen werde. :-)

Hoffentlich liefern die noch vor dem 11.01., weil ich dann ne Woche weg muss und meinen Rechner nicht mitnehmen kann. Wird sonst extrem langweilig...
